Our strategy

Business focus
Our strategy is to focus on implant, restorative and regenerative dentistry and related fields, where we want to be the partner of choice. While market dynamics and our own range of products and services provide potential for continued attractive organic growth, we constantly monitor trends and evaluate opportunities in implant and restorative dentistry, tissue regeneration and closely related fields.

Customer and segment focus
Straumann has a substantial presence in all current major markets either through our own subsidiaries or through distribution partners. We continue to believe that in order to serve our customers best, we need to have direct access to them. Our strategy has therefore been to gain greater control over distribution channels. The successful execution of this strategy means that approximately 95% of our sales are now direct. We shall continue to explore further opportunities in this respect wherever appropriate and value enhancing.

We are determined to be a leading player in all our current market segments and we will carefully evaluate the viability and benefits of entering new segments as we have, for example, done with our new generation Bone Level Implant.

Regional focus
We are committed to maintaining and solidifying our leading position in Europe. In addition, we will continue developing selected Eastern European markets in the coming years. In North America, we are continuing our efforts to strengthen our current presence. In Asia/Pacific, we will further invest in our new subsidiaries in addition to establishing a regional hub that will bring us closer to customers. We will also continue to evaluate opportunities in emerging markets.

Innovation focus
Straumann will continue to defend its premium position through innovative, differentiated products, education and marketing. We believe that continued product and service innovation, tailored to the different customer segments and skill levels, is a key to future success. We will therefore continue to invest considerable resources in the development of innovative products and solutions, delivering benefits to patients and customers.

New treatments and technologies rely on education. We are committed to the training and education of dental professionals at all levels, not only to grow our business in a sustainable manner but also to improve the standard of patient care.

Long-term shareholder value focus
Straumann has a solid financial base and strategic financial flexibility. We are committed to return excess liquidity to our shareholders in the absence of major strategic undertakings, such as operational expansion or acquisitions.
