Restoring confidence and improve the overall wellbeing of individuals
To further this mission, we were proud to launch the inaugural 2021 Straumann SmileAward. We invited dental professionals around the world to show us how they are changing the lives of their patients with immediate protocols, and how dentistry can restore confidence and improve the overall wellbeing of individuals. 93 cases where submitted in which the patient’s life had been transformed by the impact of implant therapy.

Smiles connect the world
In awarding prizes for the submitters of the most inspiring stories, we underline our strong commitment to dental professionals and patients alike. The winners receive more than just prizes – they’ll get the tools to help even more people. Whether it’s the material to complete a pro bono case or funds for a charity donation, we will help the winners to give even more smiles back to those in need. It’s been said that ‘a warm smile is the universal language of kindness.’ So, it’s not surprising that the 63 accepted patient stories, chosen from the 93 submissions, represent 30 different countries. Smiles truly connect the world!

A jury composed of world-renowned thought leaders in the field of dentistry
For the selection of our final winners, we relied on a jury composed of world-renowned thought leaders in the field of dentistry: Tara Aghaloo, Michel Dard, German Gallucci, Filippo Graziani, Christian Jarry, Martina Stefanini and Marlene Teo. Our Evaluation Jury considered the clinical principles and precision on execution of the top 25 cases as selected by the public. They rated each case according to initial situation, final result, difficulty, operative sequence, and quality of clinical documentation. But above all, the Jury considered the impact of the treatment on the patient’s esthetics, function, health and quality of life.
