Yiqun Wu is trained in oral surgery, implant dentistry and prosthodontics. He is the Director of the Second Dental Center at the Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

In the early 1990s he began his professional career as an oral surgeon in the Department of Oral Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In the late 1990s, he began performing implant-related clinical practice in the Department of Oral Implantology, which is one of the first established professional, specialized departments focusing on implant dentistry in mainland China.

In 2005 he received his PhD doctorate degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. In 2009 he worked as a Visiting Scholar at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland.

He is a distinguished lecturer and researcher, best known for his work in the field of craniofacial implantology and his research on congenital tooth agenesis and digital implant dentistry. He published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and 10 textbooks, and contributed to the 1st International Team of Implantology (ITI) Zygoma Consensus (2023, Frankfurt, Germany) and the GCCG Consensus (2025, Boston, U.S.).

He currently serves as Chairman of the Implantology Committee of the Shanghai Stomatological Association and Vice Chairman of the Committee of Oral Implantology of the Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA). He is an ITI Fellow, Chairman of the ITI China Section, and Director of the ITI Scholarship Center in Shanghai. Additionally, he serves as Director of the Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital – Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) Training and Examination Center for Oral Implantology and Prosthodontics.
