CELEBRATING PRIDE IN 2023
#TogetherDifferent: Why inclusion, all year round, is so important.​​​​​​​

My name is Jessica, and I’ve been working at Straumann for just over 15 years. At 39 years, I am proud to say that I have been living in a registered partnership with my wife for 9 years. Working for an employer that supports LGBTQ+ employees means everything to me. It means being able to bring my authentic self to work without fear of repercussions or judgment from others.

Straumann group creates an inclusive workplace where we feel supported and not "different" from our colleagues.  Over the years I’ve seen the company take very specific steps to create an inclusive workplace for LGBTQ+ employees, and the impact of these steps has been significant for me.

One example is how the company treats all employees equally, regardless of culture or sexual orientation. When my wife and I entered a registered partnership 9 years ago, marriage for all didn’t exist in Switzerland. However, Straumann recognized and celebrated our partnership. We received a letter and a bonus to congratulate us, showing that our love and commitment were valued and respected.

The most important message of the Pride movement, in my opinion, is to be proud of who we are. We are not hurting anyone, and it’s time for the whole of society to recognize this truth in 2023.

We all deserve the freedom to love and live authentically without any limitations or barriers. Through Pride month it’s crucial to raise awareness and educate others about our way of life, so people realize that we are just like them. By dispelling misconceptions and fear, we can build a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. It’s important for others to see that our differences are not dangerous and that they should not be afraid of us. We simply want to live freely without the need to hide, constantly fearing negative judgment.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Straumann Group for providing us with the opportunity to share our stories and experiences. I am incredibly proud to be part of a company that accepts me as I am. I hope that future generations will not have to struggle to live their lives freely, and that inclusivity and acceptance become the norm for everyone. Together, we can create a world where love and diversity are celebrated in every aspect of life.

STEPHANY, ITALY
My name is Stephany, I’m 32 years old, and I’ve been in a loving relationship with my wife for twelve years, five of which we have been civilly united.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, I’ve been missing an arm since birth. Some may call it a “disability,” but to me, it’s far from that. It’s just a part of who I am and doesn’t define my capabilities or my worth.  Unfortunately, many people perceive my condition as a limitation, a lack, or even worse, a problem.

But for me, it’s none of those things. How can I miss something I’ve never had? I refuse to see myself as disabled because I don’t experience this characteristic as something negative. It’s simply a unique part of me that I embrace wholeheartedly.

Now, let me share my experience at Straumann Group. From the moment I joined, I have never felt any difference in treatment, discomfort, or judgment. Instead, I’ve been met with a warm and inclusive attitude from my colleagues, who have embraced me as a valuable member of the team from day one.

Working for an employer that supports LGBTQ+ employees means the world to me. My wife is the sunshine of my life, and being able to openly talk about our life, our dreams, and our plans without fear of judgment or repercussions is wonderful.  Straumann Group allows me to express myself authentically and provides support in a world where many still try to limit our rights and freedoms.

Pride, for me, goes beyond "gay pride. It's about celebrating every facet of who we are as individuals. It's about embracing our uniqueness and being proud of the journey we've taken to be our true selves.
Pride represents a chance—an opportunity for expression, sharing, and unity. It's a call of hope for a better future where everyone can be who they want to be.

The most important message of Pride, in my opinion, is to fight for the social acceptance of every individual, celebrating their uniqueness, love, and freedom of thought. It's about giving voice and support to those who feel alone and oppressed by societal norms.

At Straumann Group, we’re encouraged to be ourselves, to embrace our individuality, and to remember that being unique is truly valuable.
