Popis

The Year One Implant Course provides a comprehensive overview of straightforward implant dentistry. The course is the first stage of our Curriculum in Implant Dentistry, a training pathway developed in partnership with the International Team of Implantology (ITI) Online Curriculum.

At The Campbell Academy, we firmly believe that it is essential that people starting out on their implant journey are supported and nurtured towards placing fifty implants per year. This contrasts greatly with the almost 90% of current implant customers in the UK who place less than fifteen implants per year.

We believe that practical experience is essential element of dental implant training as lecture based teaching or research alone cannot make you competent at placing implants. Placing implants is a practical craft, a mixture of science and art which must be practised. To this end, The Year Implant course involves a considerable amount of practical implant placement experience where delegates will be encouraged to bring their own patients to The Campbell Clinic to treat them from start to finish.

The Campbell Clinic

This will give you a foundation to take back to your own practice allowing you to select and execute appropriate treatments there with the help of a guiding hand.

We will not overlook the need to be able to source and secure positive patients within your practice environment and to this end we have brought in one of the best known names in marketing in dentistry, Chris Barrow to help, instruct and guide people through the process of securing patients within their own practising sphere.

With an international faculty who have placed over 10,000 dental implants between them and many hundreds of full arch implant reconstructions carried out we feel we are in an excellent position to assist dentists starting out in implant dentistry to move forwards in their careers.

Finally, we have tied this course in with the Straumann Mentoring Scheme and our Year Two Implant Course allowing a seamless pathway into mentoring and further advanced training, ensuring a path into advanced and complex dentistry.

Key features of the course

1. Exceptional clinical faculty from academic and practice backgrounds to provide the broadest possible range of educational opportunities.

2. A course which is heaped full of hands on and practical elements to get you better at basic surgical skills and into implant placement as soon as possible.

3. Digital mentoring for the entirety of the course supporting you through your first implant cases.

4. State-of-the-art training facilities for the course based in Nottingham at the new Campbell Academy.

5. Twelve days of teaching over 10 months, including

lecture-based teaching, discussion groups, hands-on practical sessions, further reading opportunities, evidence-based discussion, full clinical exposure to patients in a supervised environment and mentoring opportunities in a structured nationwide mentoring programme in line with GDC guidance.

6. Entry into clinical mentoring using the Straumann Clinical Mentoring data platform developed by The Campbell Academy.

7. Online collaboration and discussion between delegates  and faculty in between course modules to learn as much as possible.

Vzdělávací cíle

Aims

To provide a comprehensive foundation in implant dentistry covering both theoretical and practical elements of the discipline giving delegates the confidence they need to begin placing implants at their own practice.

Objectives

By the end of the course each delegate will:

1. Have a good foundation knowledge of the scientific basis of implant dentistry.

2. Be able to assess patients comprehensively with a view to providing dental implants as a treatment option. This will include appropriate special tests, the ability to report CBCT scans, and be able to apply this to multi-disciplinary patient cases.

3. Be able to provide straightforward implant surgical treatment to patients under supervision, including all planning aspects and post-operative care (in accordance with the SAC classification).

4. Be able to provide restorative treatments to straightforward implant cases, including single units and straightforward bridge work. This will include impression taking, abutment selection and restoration selection.

5. Have an appreciation on how dental implants can be used within their own practices to provide more comprehensive care to their patients and market this accordingly.
