Course description

This comprehensive course will provide you with hands-on experience and expert guidance in Straumann's cutting-edge guided implant surgery planning system coDiagnostiX® and in the design and collaboration platform Smilecloud.

This course will also cover all aspects of the planning procedure for guided implant surgery; from CBCT acquisition and IO scanning to planning and 3D printing of the surgical guides.

Objectives

• Discuss preoperative planning and guided surgery for Straumann® Dental Implant System
• Planning, laboratory and clinical solutions
• To learn the fundamentals of the guided surgical planning procedure
• Consolidate & implement learning via case discussions        

Aim  

• To provide dental professionals and related specialists with the essential steps for surgical treatment planning, and procedures for guided surgery using the Straumann system.  

Pre-requisites before the course starts

To be able to give the best possible outcome for this course, we ask you to bring your computer.

You will get instructions how to start a free of charge trial for both Smilecloud and coDiagnostiX® (2) weeks prior to the course.

To be able to run coDiagnostiX® on the computor it must fulfill certain requirements:

Mandatory hardware/software

• CPU: x86-64 compatible processor supported by the operating system (at least Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo processor P8600)
• GPU: Support for OpenGL version 3.3 or higher
• Main memory: Minimum 8 GB RAM
• Hard disk: Minimum 128 GB
• Storage space
• Installation: 5 GB of hard disk space required
• Free disk space for patient datasets and swap/cache files: Minimum of 10 GB of free disk space prior to each start of coDiagnostiX®.
• Operating system: Microsoft® Windows® 10, 64-bit, Microsoft® Windows® 11, 64-bit
• Peripheral devices: Monitor, keyboard, 2-button mouse (mouse with scroll wheel recommended), one free USB port

Screen resolution requirements

• Minimum: 1680 x 1050 pixels
• Recommended: 1920 x 1080 pixels or higher
• Maximum resolution per view (3D reconstruction, virtual OPG, etc.): 4096 x 3072 pixels

Additional requirements for running on Apple® macOS®

• Macintosh® computer with Intel® processor
• Apple macOS® 10.9 or newer
• Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion for Macintosh including a valid Windows® license (software to be purchased separately)

Dr Henrik Skjerven PhD Specialist in Prosthodontics

Henrik Skjerven graduated in 1993. After 12 years in a private general practice in Oslo he returned to the University of Oslo and concluded his post graduate education in prosthodontics in 2010. He still holds a part time position at the post graduate programme as well as participating in several research projects.

Skjerven defended his PhD thesis focusing on guided implant surgery in 2022. He maintains a private referral practice limited to prosthodontics at SpesDent in Oslo besides lecturing nationally and internationally.
