Opis

Unfortunately, some teeth cannot be rescued and need to be removed. However, extraction of a tooth and the subsequent healing processes result in a variety of quantitative and qualitative changes in both soft and hard tissues. These changes may significantly compromise the replacement of the missing tooth, impact the aesthetic outcome or result in the need for further surgical interventions to rebuild the lost tissues. The aim of this presentation is to explain the impact of extraction technique, the histological and morphological changes after tooth extraction, and the potential consequences of these changes on our further treatment or replacement of the missing tooth. Furthermore, this lecture will discuss possible treatment options to prevent or reduce these negative effects and outline current ridge preservation concepts.
