Basel/Koblach, 9 March 2015: Straumann, a global leader in tooth replacement, restorative and regenerative dentistry, and Amann Girrbach, a pioneer in dental CADCAM technology, today announced a collaboration through which the two companies will offer dental laboratories the capability of milling custom dental prosthetics (both tooth- and implant-borne) in house via Straumann CARES, with original Straumann connections and using state-of-the-art materials. New 5-axis Straumann CARES in-lab mill At the heart of the collaboration is a five-axis in-lab milling machine developed by Amann Girrbach to operate with the Straumann CARES CADCAM system. Branded as the ‚Straumann CARES® M Series by Amann Girrbach‘, it will be sold through Straumann in most Central European countries starting in the fourth quarter of 2015, with other regions to follow. The new machine can be used to produce a broad range of prosthetics, from inlays, onlays, veneers, and single crowns, to bridges and screw-retained restorations. Prosthetics can be milled or ground in wet or dry modes from a very broad range of materials, including glass ceramic, zirconia, PMMA, cobalt chrome sinter metal, wax, lithium disilicate ceramics and resin nanoceramic. The CARES M Series is competitively priced and – because it uses CARES Visual software and scanning technology – will be offered with the new CARES desktop scanner for labs entering digital workflows, or as a standalone for customers already equipped with a scanner. As part of the collaboration, Straumann is supplying new pre-milled titanium abutment blanks, enabling labs with Amann Girrbach milling equipment to produce their own one-piece customized abutments with original Straumann connections. Complemented by Straumann’s centralized milling service While the CARES M Series provides an all-round solution for labs, it is complemented by Straumann’s high-volume, high-precision centralized milling service. The combination offers a unique range of CADCAM prosthetic solutions.
