Embracing Immediacy and Simplicity as the New Paradigm for Patient Care in Implantology

This small group comprehensive 2-day program focuses on the merits of embracing Immediacy as a patient-centered implant prosthodontic treatment solution. Through a series of live and previously recorded surgeries, formal presentations, group discussions and hands-on training, dental teams will become familiar with the merits of prescribing the Straumann BLX Implant for a variety of Immediacy protocols, including the single tooth and full arch solutions. Particular emphasis will be placed on how best to have the entire team embrace and advocate for Immediacy protocols to be adopted in dental practices.

Incorporating the Immediate Full Arch Fixed Solution into Your Practice

This two-day program is designed for experienced surgical and/or restorative clinicians to showcase all the steps involved in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and execution of immediate provisionalization for the full arch fixed solution. A combination of live surgeries and hands-on training will expose dentists to this remarkable same-day solution for completely edentulous patients and those with a terminal dentition. Surgical and prosthodontic tips and tricks learned over the past two decades will be shared, as well as a discussion on how to best communicate the benefits of this transformative treatment solution to your patients.

Two tracks for learning:
Depending on your training/experience/preference there will be a unique opportunity to have this treatment presented to you from either the surgical or prosthodontic perspective.

A specifically designed program for dental assistants and treatment coordinators will be available on Saturday.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • To identify the pre-operative, surgical and prosthodontic workflows for you and your team
  • To experience the conversion of a removable complete denture into a fixed immediately inserted transitional prosthesis

  • To be able to understand, identify, treat and prevent common complications associated with this treatment approach.
  • To learn the detailed steps (tips and tricks) involved in the planning and execution.

Meet the Educators

Dr. John Zarb

Dr. John P. Zarb earned his DDS at the University of Detroit Mercy in 1995. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., followed by graduate prosthodontic training at the University of Toronto, earning his MSc in 2002. Dr. Zarb is a staff prosthodontist at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He has been involved with surgical and prosthetic implant dentistry education at both the undergraduate and graduate level and serves as the co-Director of Genesis Continuing Dental Education and the Dental Community Resource. Dr. Zarb joined Barrie Dental Specialists in 2003. He is a Fellow, former examiner, Registrar, and Prosthodontic Director of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada; a Fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International; a Fellow in the Academy of Prosthodontics; a Regional Councillor for the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada and the Ontario Dental Association; and a former Director of the American College of Prosthodontists.

Dr. Steven Bongard

Dr. Steven Bongard obtained his DDS degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1986. His professional interest has been concentrated on all aspects of implant dentistry since 1995. He has extensive experience in implant placement and bone grafting procedures, as well as the prosthetic component of implant restoration. He has published and lectured both nationally and internationally on implant placement, full arch rehabilitation and non-grafted immediate approaches to implant surgery. He presently maintains a dental practice in Toronto, Ontario, that is exclusive to the placement and restoration of dental implants. His recent focus has been on developing a community resource and training centre that can provide access to innovation, technology and advanced infrastructure, as well as support and mentoring to the dental implant community.
