In this issue, the editor’s choice is the article published in the Journal of Periodontology, “Clinical performance of hydrophilic, titanium-zirconium dental implants in patients with well-controlled and poorly-controlled type 2 diabetes: One-Year Results of a dual-center prospective cohort study” authored by Jessica M Latimer et al.,

This study assessed the clinical performance of hydrophilic dental implants in a patient cohort with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It was seen that the implant success after one year was 100%, and the elevated HbA1c levels(> 7.5%)did not compromise the success rate and the oral health-related quality of life in poorly controlled diabetic patients receiving SLActive®, Roxolid® implants.
