In this issue, the editor’s choice is the article published in the Journal of Oral Implantology, “Immediate Vs. Early Loading of Bone Level Tapered Dental Implants with Hydrophilic Surface in Fully Edentulous Maxilla: Clinical and Patient-Centered Outcomes” authored by Aleksa Markovic et al.,

This study compared changes among primary and secondary implant stability between immediate and early loading of the BLT SLActive® implants in edentulous maxilla and also, evaluated the oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) and patient satisfaction with 6-implant supported fixed full-arch dentures on 24 patients with edentulous maxilla.

It was seen that the implant loading protocols don't have a significant effect on the change in implant stability 6 weeks after implantation, however, immediate loading significantly improves OHRQoL and satisfaction of patients with maxillary edentulism treated by fixed full-arch dentures.
