From innovation to impact: The Straumann Group Foundation’s mission for global oral health

Reading time: 3 minutes

The Straumann Group Foundation is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to improving oral health worldwide through education, access, and sustainable partnerships. Established in 2024 by the Straumann Group, it envisions a world where oral health is a source of confidence. We want to turn purpose into progress — building access and equity around the world

A new chapter in the Straumann Group story

When the Straumann Group Foundation (SGF) was launched in 2024, it marked more than the start of a new organization. It represented a commitment to transforming lives through oral health — ensuring that care, education, and confidence reach beyond borders and beyond business. Rooted in the Straumann Group’s purpose of “unlocking the potential of people’s lives,” the Foundation brings that belief to life where it matters most: in communities with limited access to dental care.

“We believe oral health is not a privilege but a pathway to dignity and opportunity.”

The Straumann Group Foundation Leadership

Why a foundation — and why now?

For decades, Straumann Group employees and partners have been driving charitable projects worldwide — from local care initiatives to global dental-education programs.
The new Foundation unites those efforts under an independent, non-profit structure based in Basel, Switzerland, designed to deliver sustainable, measurable impact with transparency and global reach. Through The Straumann Group Foundation, the Group’s long-standing culture of giving gains permanence, professional governance, and a clear mission:

“To improve access to oral healthcare and enhance quality of life for people in need.”

Two pillars of lasting change

SGF’s work rests on two complementary program pillars that reflect the continuum of oral health:

  • Restoring smiles: Providing access to implant-based restorative treatment for patients who could not otherwise afford it.
  • Basic dental care: Supporting preventive and primary dental services, education, and awareness in underserved communities.

Every project aims to empower local professionals, strengthen health systems, and ensure that improved oral health becomes a lasting reality — not a one-time intervention.

Governance, collaboration, and accountability

Transparency and independence are at the Foundation’s core. The Straumann Group Foundation is governed by its own Board and management team, operating under Swiss foundation law and subject to external oversight and auditing. Partnerships are carefully selected based on shared values and measurable outcomes, ensuring that each initiative contributes to systemic progress rather than short-term aid.

“Our goal is to create self-sustaining impact — empowering communities long after our direct involvement.”

Connecting global expertise with local action

By bridging the Straumann Group’s global network and know-how with local partners, The Straumann Group Foundation helps translate innovation into inclusion. Collaborations span NGOs, universities, and public-health institutions — such as Suyana, a Swiss/Peruvian foundation focused on health and education. Together, these alliances expand access to care, strengthen education, and raise awareness of oral health as a foundation for overall well-being.
