The design of our new Straumann® Modular Cassette has been awarded with the prestigious reddot and IF design awards for its usability and esthetics – a further example for the brand´s promise of “simply doing more”.
Start small, build up your cassette system over time.
Things don’t stay the same forever and they don’t have to. The new Straumann® Modular Cassette was designed for change so your cassette never gets outdated. The cassette is a compact and customizable instrument container system for and is compatible with all implant lines of the Straumann® Implant System. You can assemble the three modules in different ways to customize the kit with exactly the tools you need. The Straumann® Modular Cassette blends into your clinic's daily workflow and supports the team in every step of the process – before, during and after surgery – so that you can work together efficiently and focus fully on the patient.
Developed in close collaboration with dental professionals
Over the past two years, the project team went through 4 major design loops and interviewed close to 50 users to get to the final design. Physical mockups were done to simulate different scenarios with users. Visiting nurses and doctors in their practices helped to understand the daily routines and individual needs, which change over time. Throughout the whole process, countless versions of modules and the exact tray designs were created to ensure a seamless, intuitive handling.

The IF Design Award is organized by Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH. It is the world’s oldest independent design organization. For 65 years, designers and manufacturers have strived to win the internationally renowned IF label for design, a seal of quality and exceptional design. About the reddot design award
The reddot design award is the world’s most important design award, founded in 1955 and located in Essen, Germany. In 2019, designers and manufacturers from 55 countries entered more than 5,500 products in the competition. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, the jury focuses on criteria such as the level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, longevity and ergonomics. The Straumann® Modular Cassette has received the Red Dot Design Award 2019 in the category «Medical devices and technology». https://www.red-dot.org
The cassette will be part of the IF Design Exhibition in Hamburg, Germany and the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen for the 2019 award winner exhibitions and is presented in the award’s online exhibitions and apps.
