Descripción

Traditionally, narrow diameter implants have been used to restore anterior teeth in the mandible and in gaps with compromised mesio-distal dimension. Modifications in the materials and designs have produced more resistant reduced diameter implants, and thus they may be used in almost any indication. But, do we have enough evidence to choose them in posterior restorations? Are they a reliable alternative to horizontal bone regeneration procedures? And what can we expect from the industry in order to obtain mechanically resistant materials? We will try to find answers to these and other questions concerning this current topic. The objective of this lecture is to provide an updated vision on the indications of use of narrow diameter implants, and to know the latest technical innovations in the biomaterials used in their manufacture.
