Beyond placement - Straumann Cadaver Course
Date: November 20-21, 2026.
Venue: National Medical Innovation Training Center (NOIKK) – 93 Üllői út, 1091 Budapest
32 Credits
Accredited course
This intensive, two-day hands-on course provides dental professionals with the opportunity to master simultaneous augmentation and implantation techniques on human cadaver specimens in a realistic yet supportive environment.
Course Details
The program offers an evidence-based overview from a practical perspective to help practitioners safely integrate surgical techniques into their clinical practice.
The primary focus is on giving opportunity to the participants to perform actual surgical procedures on specially treated cadavers without unpleasant odor, all within a relaxed and supportive environment. While each block begins with a brief theoretical summary, the training places a greater emphasis on practice.
Course agenda
Day 1: Bone augmentation & simultaneous implantation
- Short theoretical review of key anatomical aspects, with special focus on the floor of the mouth (sublingual region) and the morphological features of the alveolar ridge, as well as their pathological changes.
- Overview of fundamental anatomical relationships using human specimens, complemented by X-ray and CBCT scans demonstrating danger zones.
- Summary of basic bone grafting techniques: strategic planning, flap design options (full-thickness and minimally invasive combined flap for simultaneous implant placement), membrane fixation (sutures and pins), and management of potential complications.
- Performing external (lateral window) sinus lift on human specimens, combined with implant placement. Proper flap design and wound closure techniques, management of complications, e.g., Schneiderian membrane perforation.
- Simultaneous augmentation with implant placement using a combined flap technique: basic prerequisites, indications, contraindications, advantages, and challenges.
Day 2: Sinus lift & immediate implant placement – A comprehensive approach
- Anatomy of the maxillary sinus, critical anatomical structures and variations relevant to the procedure. Introduction to open and closed sinus lift techniques, the role and characteristics of biomaterials.
- Performing external (lateral window) sinus lift procedures on human specimens, combined with implant placement. Proper flap design and wound closure techniques, prevention of Schneiderian membrane perforation.
- Clinical applications of immediate implant placement from single-tooth gaps to full-arch rehabilitation. Advantages and challenges of implants placed immediately after tooth extraction, and the role of digital workflows in increasing accuracy.
- The most common complications and failure factors encountered during immediate implant placement and immediate loading, as well as their prevention and management supported by digital tools.
- Steps of immediate implant placement following atraumatic tooth extraction, as well as connective tissue grafting techniques aimed at improving the quality and volume of peri-implant soft tissues.

He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2014. He also graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University in 2018. Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology at Semmelweis University. He participates in postgraduate training for medical and dental students in Hungarian, German, and English, while also maintaining a dental practice. His primary areas of interest include implantology, sinus lifts, and other bone grafting procedures. Committed to continuous professional development, he places great emphasis on knowledge sharing. Over the years, he has served as a speaker and mentor at the international ESRA (Eastern European Cadaver Workshop) postgraduate practical courses.
Dr. Bertalan Németh
Graduated from Semmelweis University in 2010, where he completed his specialization in oral surgery and implantology. In 2018, he received a scholarship from the world’s largest implantology organization, the ITI (International Team for Implantology), which allowed him to spend a year at the postgraduate clinic of UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) in Mexico City. He has had the honor of being an ITI Fellow since 2020. He is the co-director of ITI Study Club Budapest, hosting international speakers. His primary interests are immediate implant placement, bone grafting, and digital workflows. He lectures both nationally and internationally on various topics in implant dentistry.
