During this scientific lecture Dr. Stefan Röhling and Dr. Andre Chen first guided us through the Straumann® Pure ceramic Implants System, highlighting the importance of the implant system and safe handling. After highlighting various studies, they concluded that different treatment protocols, such as bone augmentation and transgingival healing, are safe and recommended, and that the survival and success rates of both ceramic implants designs are comparable to those for titanium. Short videos of live surgery and a hands-on session supported the lecture and visualized the content.
The ESCI objective is to establish zirconium dioxide as a reliable material in dental implantology on a scientific and evidence-based basis. Ceramic implants are currently one of the fastest growing, most research-intensive and innovative areas in dentistry. To this end, the ESCI establishes certified and quality-oriented training and internship centers throughout Europe. Users should be given the opportunity to become familiar with the material zirconium, and to learn how to handle ceramic implants on a scientific and clinical basis in a fundamental and comprehensive way. The training centers have been selected and certified by the ESCI Scientific Advisory Board (“ESCI certified Training and Education Center”). In accordance with the ESCI philosophy, guidelines and content are established as the “framework” for training in the centers. The aim is to ensure a uniform level of knowledge of the participants after completion of the courses.
