Turning interest into action – 3D printed Covid19 parts initiative

Digital dentists and technicians help to fight against the spread of Covid19

Breweries and distilleries producing hand disinfectants instead of beer and liquor? Taylor shops sewing surgical masks? Catering companies delivering “care packages” for elderly people? Dental labs producing face shields and parts for respiratory devices? Has the world turned upside down?

No! These are creative answers, ideas and initiatives in Covid19 times. UK based International Digital Dental Academy (IDDA) has launched the initiative 3D printed Covid19 parts. “As a community of over 13,000 digital dentists and technicians who have 3D Printing capabilities, we could produce parts for the front line in the fight against Covid19. These 3D printers can print in a wide range of materials – even biocompatible”, the initiators say.

The initiative’s webpage offers different areas where you can

  • download links and STL files for 3D printing
  • offer your help to produce and supply parts
  • ask for getting 3D printed parts
  • access the initiative’s facebook site
  • donate money to finance for the creation, purchase and shipping of 3D printed parts to Healthcare Providers
