The Straumann Group Foundation

About us

Why a foundation

Strengthen and unite impact for communities.

The Straumann Group Foundation was established in 2024 to maximize the positive impact of the longstanding community commitment shared across the Straumann Group's global network of teams, companies and brands. For decades, employees and entrepreneurs within the Group have actively engaged in local initiatives – improving oral health, supporting communities, and providing disaster relief.

While these efforts have made a difference, we recognized the potential to do more – and to do it better above and beyond our business goals. Our greatest opportunity for impact lies in our field of expertise: oral health.

As a nonprofit, independent organization based in Basel, Switzerland with a global reach, the Foundation was created to centralize and upscale the Straumann Groups charitable work in oral health. By connecting local efforts with global strategy, and by making efficient use of resources, we aim to maximize long-term impact where itʼs needed most.

Starting in 2025, the Straumann Group Foundation will coordinate, support, and expand projects that raise awareness, deliver care, and restore smiles – for people and communities in need around the world.

While the purpose, vision, and core values are aligned with those of the Straumann Group, the Foundation operates entirely without any commercial intent.

overcoming barriers to oral health

Oral health is a fundamental component of overall well-being, impacting nutrition, confidence, and general health. Healthy teeth and gums support proper chewing and adequate nutrition, while poor oral health can lead to pain, infections, and even malnutrition. Beyond physical health, a healthy smile enhances self-esteem and enables social and professional participation. Dental problems – such as tooth loss or gum disease  – can result in embarrassment and isolation.

Oral health is also closely linked to systemic conditions: poor hygiene increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses, while chronic infections can exacerbate other medical issues.

Yet millions still lack access to basic dental care and suffer from preventable conditions. This is where our expertise lies. That’s why we focus our programs specifically on improving access to essential dental health services.

Barriers to oral health

  • Availability

Insufficient number of trained personnel and facilities to offer oral care to the entire population.

  • Accessibility

Geographic barriers and transportation issues make it hard to reach the point of care.

  • Awareness

Limited understanding of oral health and preventive care leads to avoidable dental problems.

  • Affordability

High costs in relation to income, often not covered by public healthcare, prevent many from seeking necessary treatment.

Team

A small, dedicated and empowered team willing to learn and grow for the better.

As a company, we bring decades of experience in advancing oral health and unlocking human potential. As a foundation, we are at the beginning of a new chapter. While still young as a non-profit organization, we are committed to learning, improving, and growing with intention.

We start with a focused approach – establishing robust governance, building dedicated teams, and launching targeted programs. Over time, we are developing a structured and professional grant strategy, with the ambition to serve as an incubator for scalable, high-impact initiatives in oral health worldwide.
