Identifying and understanding key elements that will optimize our clinical work continues to be a challenge in dental implant therapy, particularly to the inexperienced clinician that confronts a challenging case. In a time when information is easily available and in a field which is constantly evolving, it can be an overwhelming task to select and digest the data needed for successful treatment outcomes. The main objectives of this lecture are to help the clinician integrate the current information available into a structured plan and to provide theoretical and technical criteria that impact planning considerations in complex implant cases.
