Medentika starts at new production site

Medentika has moved into its new production site in Altburg near Calw ahead of schedule. The groundbreaking ceremony took place less than a year and a half ago in November 2019. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the new build in the Würzbacher Kreuz industrial area was completed at pace. “A company move on this scale under strict safety precautions is an enormous challenge – but, actually, everything went smoothly and we have been able to continue working without any notable interruption – just on a new production site with 3,500 m2 of space”, explains Marcel Kiefer, Head of Production. 38 employees switched from the previous site in Renningen to Altburg. And this is just the start: this year alone, the company is planning to increase its ranks with 15 new employees.

“Implant prosthetics is a field that has been growing in importance for years. This is reflected at Medentika in the ever-increasing demand. Expectations are running high – the new cutting-edge plant was the right step to take, and it was necessary to secure the future of Medentika GmbH, with its headquarters in Hügelsheim”, points out Bernd Gaddum, the Managing Director. The new premises not only boast more manufacturing capacity than the old site. They also house new machinery and high-end technology, while production and processes are more sustainable and efficient. The building itself is also state-of-the-art when it comes to generating energy: most of the electricity used to run the site is generated by on-site photovoltaic systems. What’s more, a heat recovery system means that heat energy from the production machinery is used to heat the buildings. The new production site also has a training center, at the heart of which is the training room with a view onto the “transparent production”.

The legal form has also been changed to coincide with the move. On 1 January 2021, what was formerly the production company Medentika CNC GmbH merged into Medentika GmbH.
