In Patria, a rural community in the district of Kosñipata, Peru, an existing dental service has taken an important step forward.

As part of the partnership between the Straumann Group Foundation and Suyana Foundation, the Patria Health Post has been equipped with a new electric dental unit, instruments and equipment. Until recently, dental professionals were working with a deteriorated portable unit that limited the care they could provide.
The new setup, formally handed over in June 2026, enables safer, more comfortable and more comprehensive treatment locally for a health post serving more than 2,490 people.
What makes the initiative particularly relevant is the model behind it. The municipality provides infrastructure and complementary resources, the public health network ensures dental personnel and continuity of care, and the community supports the use and sustainability of the service. SGF and Suyana provided the equipment and continue to support monitoring and follow-up.
And the partnership is extending this approach further. A dental service has also been established in Ventilla, Bolivia, while additional initiatives are being developed within the wider Suyana program.
Together, these practical steps show how existing local structures can be strengthened to bring oral healthcare closer to communities that face significant barriers to access.
