Visiting Dentaid Dental Clinic in Kent UK

Straumann Group Foundation Visits Dentaid Mobile Dental Clinic Supporting Homeless Veterans in Kent

Maidstone, Kent – June 2026.

Representatives from the Straumann Group Foundation visited a Dentaid mobile dental clinic at the Mountbatten Pavilion in Maidstone, Kent, on Thursday 11 June 2026, witnessing first-hand the vital role that mobile dental services play in improving access to oral healthcare for vulnerable communities.

The Mountbatten Pavilion is a temporary housing facility providing accommodation and support for homeless veterans. During the visit, a Dentaid mobile dental unit was deployed on-site to offer dental assessments and essential treatment to residents who may otherwise face significant barriers to accessing dental care.

The clinic was staffed by volunteer dental professionals, including dental clinician Ashley Watson and a volunteer dental nurse, who generously donated their time and expertise to support patients throughout the day.

Dentaid’s mobile dental clinics provide essential oral healthcare services to individuals experiencing homelessness, hardship, poverty, and abuse. By bringing treatment directly into communities, these clinics help address urgent dental needs and improve overall health and wellbeing for people who are often excluded from mainstream healthcare services.

Rainer Schlegel, Director of the Straumann Group Foundation, attended the visit and praised the impact of the initiative.

“Access to dental care remains a significant challenge for many vulnerable people across the UK. Seeing the dedication of the Dentaid team and its volunteers, and witnessing the positive difference these services make to homeless veterans, was both inspiring and humbling. The Straumann Group Foundation is proud to support initiatives that help remove barriers to healthcare and restore dignity, confidence and wellbeing through improved oral health.”

Ashley Watson, the volunteer dental clinician who provided treatment during the clinic, highlighted the importance of taking dental services directly to those in need.

“Many of the patients we see through Dentaid’s mobile clinics have been unable to access dental care for a long time and are often living with pain or discomfort. Being able to provide treatment in a familiar and accessible environment can make a huge difference. It was incredibly rewarding to help patients on the day and to support veterans who have served their country and deserve access to essential healthcare.”
